Bulldogs This Week (Week 6)

To put it gently, it was a week to forget for the Hamilton Bulldogs, as they went a pitiful 0-4, being outscored 16-3 in the process.  Rather than going through each game’s struggles, let’s skip the depressing part and move on to the news of the week.

ECHL Report:

There are a couple of positives here, as Montreal’s affiliate in Long Beach continues to play well, as their record stands at 8-4, good for 4th in the division.  Cory Urquhart has 4 points (2-2-4) in 9 games, with 2 PIMS, while Christian Larrivee has 3 points (1-2-3) in 11, with a -2 rating.  He was also scratched for a game this week.  Olivier Michaud now has a 1-3 record, with a 3.11 GAA and .911 save percentage.  Meanwhile, in Peoria, D James Sanford has an assist in 8 contests, with 4 PIMS and a -2 rating.

Up near the top:

There are a few Hamilton Bulldogs near the top of the league in certain categories.  C Corey Locke is 13th in rookie scoring, while Raitis Ivanans is 11th in PIMS, while Steve Ott is 25th in that category.

Attendance woes:

Last season, Hamilton was in the bottom 5 in league attendance.  This year, they are out of the bottom 5, but still sit 19th best, averaging 4,156 per game through 9 contests.

Goalie Zone:

It appears that G Yann Danis is becoming fatigued after being handed the #1 role, as he allowed 11 goals on just 79 shots this week, going 0-3 in the process.  Backup G Dan Ellis is still without a win, but is improving, making 28 saves on 31 shots Saturday vs Rochester, and stopping 6 of 8 in mop-up duty on Sunday vs Wilkes-Barre.

News and Notes:

D Trevor Daley’s goal on Saturday was his 1st as a Bulldog … D Ron Hainsey did not play Friday, believed to be due to a minor injury … W Andrei Kostitsyn, despite 4th line ice time, was a -4 vs Wilkes-Barre Scranton.

The Infirmary:

D Mike Komisarek (hip), out 2-3 weeks
D Jean-Phillipe Cote (shoulder), out indefinitely
C Antti Miettinen (shoulder), out 12-14 weeks
C Benoit Dusablon (undisclosed), out indefinitely
