HabsWorld.net --

With the AHL season a couple of weeks away from starting, it’s almost time for training camp in Laval.  With that in mind, the Rocket unveiled their 32-player training camp roster on Thursday.

There are no real surprises among the group as there are no players on tryout deals or loaned from other teams which is something that Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported earlier this week as a possibility.  That could still change in the coming days.  In the meantime, the roster is as follows:

Goalies (3): Vasili Demchenko, Michael McNiven, Cayden Primeau

Defence (10): Tobie Bisson*, Josh Brook, Gianni Fairbrother, Kaiden Guhle, Nathanael Halbert*, Jacob LeGuerrier, Otto Leskinen, Gustav Olofsson, Xavier Ouellet, Corey Schueneman*

Forwards (19): Brandon Baddock, Alex Belzile, Joseph Blandisi, Laurent Dauphin, Rafael Harvey-Pinard*, Liam Hawel*, Cam Hillis, Arsen Khisamutdinov, Jacob Lucchini, Kevin Lynch*, Jan Mysak, Michael Pezzetta, Joel Teasdale, Hayden Verbeek, Yannick Veilleux*, Lukas Vejdemo, Samuel Vigneault*, Jordan Weal, Jesse Ylonen

*- AHL contract

Fairbrother, Guhle, LeGuerrier, and Mysak are all CHL prospects and will likely be returned to their respective junion teams if and when those leagues get underway.  They are eligible to suit up in the meantime, however.

Cale Fleury and Ryan Poehling are notable absentees off this list.  They’re still up with the Habs on their taxi squad and practicing with the NHL team.  Once their road trip in Vancouver ends, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them sent down to the Rocket to start preparing for the season while another forward and defenceman are recalled.

Training camp will run from January 22-31 with a trio of intrasquad games comprising their ‘exhibition’ schedule.  The regular season is slated to start February 5th but the schedule has not been set at this time.
