HabsWorld.net --

The Habs had four prospects attending USA Hockey’s summer camp in preparation for the upcoming World Juniors but only Cole Caufield was named to the preliminary roster on Monday.

His inclusion on the 29-player roster should come as no surprise since he was on their team last year in the tournament.  Although he wasn’t the most productive, it’s quite likely that he’ll be a bigger factor this time around.

Although Caufield didn’t have a great showing this weekend, he’s still off to a good start to his sophomore season at Wisconsin, he still has posted four goals and four assists through his first eight games and has largely done so without the benefit of their top centre in Dylan Holloway who is off at Canada’s camp.

Training camp for Team USA is still a week away and will begin on December 6th.  While that’s a bit earlier than usual, more time is needed for quarantining upon entry to the bubble in Edmonton.  It’s worth noting that roster sizes will be larger as a result as teams will be permitted to carry 25 players.

Meanwhile, the prospects that didn’t make the camp from summer camp were 2020 draft picks Luke Tuch and Sean Farrell as well as 2019 draft pick Jayden Struble.
