HabsWorld.net --

Habsworld.net has named Siarhei Kostitsyn the October Prospect of the Month for his consistent offensive performances, as he adapts to a new style of hockey, culture and lifestyle. Kostitsyn was in the running for the September Prospect of the Month, after putting up an impressive nine points in his first four games, including an astounding six point night in his OHL debut. Things kept rolling for the younger Kostitsyn, adding an impressive twenty-one points during the month of October in just eleven games, getting nine goals and twelve helpers. His offensive production has him currently sitting tied for sixth overall in league scoring and first overall in rookie scoring, as the high powered London Knights continue to blow teams out of the water with their explosive power play to which Kostitsyn is a part of.

Kostitsyn has been a model of consistency on the scoreboard, getting points in nine of eleven games, and even more impressive is the fact that he’s had two or more points in seven of the eleven games. Much like his older brother Andrei, Siarhei will need to work on his defensive game but already shows a willingness to learn and adapt to the North American game.

Also in the running for the October Prospect of the Month was Mathieu Aubin, who like Kostitsyn was also in the running for last months prospect award and was also a model of consistency on the score sheet, getting fourteen points in eleven games with nine of eleven games as well. Aubin was not given much credit for his successful season last year due to the quality wingers he was paired with in Alex Picard and Alex Bourret. This year Aubin is looked upon to carry much of the offensive load for Lewiston as the team struggles to win games in the QMJHL. More of a setup man then a sniper, Aubin picked up five goals for the month and has been successful in shootouts as well.

In addition to Aubin, Hamilton’s Corey Locke was also in the running for his solid start to the season that saw him pick up seven points in nine games, carrying much of the offense for the Dogs. After a strong rookie season with Hamilton last year Locke continues to find ways to get the puck in the net by either shooting or passing the puck. Locke is especially dangerous on the power play, where he can make things happen with some impressive puck moving skills and vision.
