HabsWorld.net --

10am The two squads start the day by sharing the same ice (red on one half, white on the other) for the first session, it made for a very crowded ice surface with over 40 players on it. The players were pretty much just loosening up for the upcoming game, with stretches and shooting.

The game

1-0 Whites: Michael Lambert opens the scoring after receiving a great tape to tape feed from Vandermeer, Vandermeer showed impressive vision with the assist.

2-0 Whites: Michael Ryder scores from just outside the faceoff circle with a wrist shot that beat Halak 5-hole. Markov with an assist. Weak goal given up by Halak

2-1 reds score: Ron Hainsey scores on an open net after Bulis setup the entire play, very nice effort from Jan. Hainsey in the right place at the right time.

3-1 Whites: I missed this goal, but am fairly sure Ryder scored it. This goal was scored right after the 2-1 goal, as I was jotting down the summary of the last goal I missed this one.

4-1 Whites: Late in the game, Lapierre in alone on Halak, beats him cleanly through the legs if I remember correctly.

Goalies: 1st half Theodore vs Danis … 2nd half Halak vs Price

Now some thoughts…

– The players looked much less rusty in day #2 of on-ice camp then they did yesterday. Everyone was flying.

– You can already see the improvement in Carey Price from one day to the next, his work with Melanson and Theodore is starting to pay off. Theodore often times will take Price aside and show (or tell) him a few things.

– Latendresse was solid again today, but not as spectacular as yesterday. He’s always looking to make an impact on the ice.

– Perezhogin had a strong day, and had many scoring chances, he’s got great puck possession skills, his line (Koivu/Higgins) played very well today, they showed a lot of chemistry.

– Marcel Hossa stood out today, in particular on one rush where he deked through a couple of players only to be stopped by Price. He played on a line with Bonk and Sundstrom. Bonk was also much more noticeable today, he actually took a few shots, and got involved more.

– Dandenault really likes pinching in from the blueline, and the great thing is that even when he’s caught out of position he can easily skate back to the defensive zone and help out. He’s likely the fastest skater in camp.
