HW Victory Keys: Canadiens versus Capitals

It's super bowl weekend. For the Montreal Canadiens this means back-to-back games at home in which the Habs will try to snap their 2 game losing streak and end the week on a positive note. This hasn't exactly been the season either of these teams were expecting with the Capitals sitting 9th in the East while the Habs have subsequently dropped to 14th, currently tied with the 15th place Carolina Hurricanes in points.Full Story

The Habs appear to be back to their losing ways after falling 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night, putting them 0-2 since the All-Star break. After losing a key game to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night the Habs appeared to get the message, jumping out to a quick start that lasted all of about 30 seconds. Full Story

Vote for January's 3 Stars!

In a month where Montreal posted a modest 5-4-2 record, the Canadiens kept their meager playoff hopes alive. January's Canadiens exemplified this season's lack of consistency, as their Jekyll and Hyde tendencies had them score 7 goals on two occasions, while being shut out in two other games. As evidenced by the subtraction of Mike Cammalleri and addition of Rene Bourque, the Canadiens are striving for a new look, and time will only tell if it yields more successful results.

HW 3 Stars: Another Home Loss

The Canadiens failed to capitalize on their 2 game winning streak before the All Star game break, losing tonight's game at home 3-1 to the Buffalo Sabres. The loss dropped the Habs record to 0-3 against the Sabres this season. Despite Max Pacioretty's first period break away goal, the team could not hold the lead, allowing Ville Leino to tie the game in the 2nd period, and Paul Gaustad steal the lead in the third.Full Story

A Question of Power

In the post lockout era of the Montreal Canadiens not much has been consistent. Only 2 players remain in the current Habs roster versus that year (Plekanec and Markov). 5 head coaches (including Bob Gainey twice) have stood behind the bench. If you believe the trade rumours swirling around Montreal right now it seems like more change is on the way. Full Story

HW Recap: Into the Break With a Bang

In this week's HW Recap: The Habs only had one game but boy, was it a fun one to watch as we got to see an offensive explosion. That same explosion was non-existent in Hamilton as their playoff hopes took a huge hit while one player who has taken a huge hit in the media in recent days, P.K. Subban, is the focus of my Final Thought.Full Story

Around The Boards: Weber's Value

In our second ATB trade deadline preview, we stick with the defence. This time, the focus shifts to one of Montreal's youngest players, Yannick Weber. In his four professional seasons, he has spent time with the Habs in every one of them but this is his first full-time NHL campaign. Despite being a frequent scratch, he has already established a career high in goals and points.Full Story
