One of the forwards that the Canadiens may target with the 26th overall pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft is Daniel Sprong, a right winger for Charlottetown of the QMJHL. Sprong is a known goal scorer and overall offensive threat.
Welcome to HabsWorld’s annual draft pool. The draft will be held on June 26th and 27th in Florida. Make your guess as to who the Canadiens will select as well as who the rest of the league will select in the first round on Friday night.
The last three years, the Habs have shied away from picking defencemen in the top-50 at the draft. Understandably, that has left the depth at that position quite underwhelming. There are several blueliners who could be strong options for Montreal with the 26th pick on Friday. One of those is Jacob Larsson.
An exciting scoring forward by the name of Jake DeBrusk may be available for Montreal to select at the #26 position at this month’s NHL Entry draft. DeBrusk is another draft eligible player who has bloodlines to the NHL, as his father Louie DeBrusk played for over 400 games in the pros.
One of the players that the Canadiens may target with the 26th overall pick in the upcoming draft is Jansen Harkins, a centre for the WHL’s Prince George Cougars. Jansen is one of the prospects who comes from a hockey family as he is the son of former NHL’er Todd Harkins, the current GM of the Cougars.
The Habs have not been known to take too many risky picks in the first round over the years but with the team picking at the back yet again, the time may be right to make a ‘home run swing’. One of the players who fits the description of a potential boom or bust selection is forward Thomas Novak.
Josiah Didier will be suiting up for St. John’s in 2015-16 as the IceCaps signed him to a one year AHL contract. The 22 year old blueliner finished up his four year college career this past season.
The Memorial Cup has come to an end on a winning note for one Montreal prospect as Michael McCarron’s Oshawa Generals took home the trophy. Here’s a look back at the tournament from a Canadiens perspective.
On Monday, the Habs announced the re-signings of forward Gabriel Dumont and defenceman Morgan Ellis to one year, two-way contracts. As per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
