Pierre Boivin - PresidentPierre Bovin is a builder and corporate leader who pursued his entire career in the sports and entertainment industry. Since 1999, Pierre Boivin is President of the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club and Gillett Entertainment Group. He oversees all sports and entertainment activities presented by these enterprises which attract more than two million people each year. In 1994, Mr. Boivin is appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canstar Sports Inc., a Montreal-based public company and a world leader in the hockey equipment industry. In 1995, Canstar is acquired by Nike, Inc. and becomes Bauer Nike Hockey Inc. Mr. Boivin will remain as CEO of the new company until 1999. From 1992 to 1994, Mr. Boivin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Weider Sporting Goods Inc., a leading sports and fitness equipment manufacturer based in Los Angeles. Mr. Boivin started his professional career in 1976 as Operations Manager of a sports equipment retail chain. He founded Norvinca Inc. in 1979 and the company rapidly became the most important sporting goods distributor in Canada. He remained President and CEO, and shareholder of the company until it was acquired by the Benetton Sports Group in 1991. Mr. Boivin is a member of the Board of Governors of the National Hockey League. He is the Chairman of the Board of Kangaroo Media Inc. and a member of the board of Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XM Canada) and Med-Eng Inc. Very much involved in the community, Pierre Boivin was elected, in June 2006, Chairman of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation, after spending the three previous years as its Vice Chairman. He also serves as member of the board of Special Olympics Canada, acting as Chairman of the Sports Committee, of Special Olympics Quebec, where he was Chairman of the Board for six years, as well as a member of the Centraide of Greater Montreal Campaign Committee for 2006. In 2001, he founded the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over $4 million to support more than 200 organizations in Quebec dedicated to improving the well-being of children.
