HabsWorld.net --

Over the past several days, Laval has been getting a head start on putting their team together for next season, signing some prospects.  On Friday, they added a veteran to their ranks, announcing the signing of winger Gabriel Bourque to a one-year AHL deal.

The 30-year-old didn’t play this season but had been basically a full-time NHL player in the three seasons before that, suiting up in 165 NHL games between Colorado and Winnipeg and just five in the minors in that span.  Having said that, he wasn’t particularly productive as his point totals went from 11 to eight to 6.

With 413 career NHL contests and another 188 in the AHL under his belt, Bourque qualifies as a veteran skater and there are restrictions to how many of those can dress for a game.  With that in mind, the signing is a little curious in that he hasn’t been a particularly productive player and using a veteran spot for a bottom-six guy isn’t necessarily the best usage of those limited positions.  Nevertheless, he’ll bring some experience to Laval’s lineup for next season.

If you haven’t been keeping track of Laval’s offseason activity, they re-signed Tobie Paquette-Bisson and Terrance Amorosa while inking QMJHL forwards Cedric Desruisseaux and Justin Ducharme in recent days.
