HabsWorld.net --

With training camp fast approaching, we’re looking to add some writers to our team for the upcoming season. If you have a passion for the Habs and are looking for an outlet to write about them, we’d like to hear from you.

HabsWorld is one of the longest-running Canadiens fan websites out there as we are in our 17th year of operation. Over that time, we’ve had nearly 100 people contribute to the site, many of which had no prior writing experience.

Here is an overview of some of the writing opportunities we have available:

Postgame Writers: For our postgame recaps, we do a hybrid piece featuring a game recap and 3 Stars to discuss Montreal’s top performers in a bit more detail.  With games coming with a greater frequency than most years, we’d like to have multiple writers to help spread the workload.  With there being a higher concentration of games out West this season, if you’re a Montreal fan from Western Canada, this might be a good fit for you.

Stat Columns: This used to be something that I took on in the early days of the site but I haven’t had the opportunity to do much in the way of stat columns in recent years. It’s part of the reason that we run our Fantasy Focus series each year just so that we have some statistical commentary but unfortunately, that only covers a short period of time.

We used to run weekly stat articles where we’d highlight a certain stat around the league and where Montreal slots in (with a projection of whether or not it’s an area that could improve over the course of a season) or highlighting something of note about a specific player. With analytics now being used more than ever plus a whole world of new information about to be available through the NHL’s new tracking system which is supposed to be in use this season, the time is ideal to jump back into this. This isn’t something we’d necessarily be looking for on a weekly basis but rather a few pieces here and there over the course of the season.

Prospect Coverage: Right now, our prospect coverage involves weekly Recaps from Laval, monthly 3 Stars pieces, plus our popular annual prospect rankings series. (We haven’t forgotten about the 2020-21 set, it is coming.)  We’re always looking to add to that and in particular, doing something with more detailed player breakdowns is something we’ve wanted to do for a while. If you follow the prospects closely and fancy yourself as someone that could put together a good scouting report, you’re the type of person we’re looking for.

History Pieces: There is plenty of history when it comes to the Montreal Canadiens. From championships to big events, big trades to memorable moments, there are plenty of things to write about. This is a series (this day in history or a column about an entire year) that we’ve wanted to get into for a while; please let us know if it’s something you’d be interested in trying.

General Opinion Columns: This has always been a part of our site and that’s not going to change anytime soon. If you don’t think you’d want to write a more structured column, perhaps this is the fit for you.

These are volunteer positions; while we do run ads, those only help us cover the cost of running the site and our message board.
