HabsWorld.net --

The Habs will have another prospect suiting up overseas as GM Marc Bergevin confirmed to Mathias Brunet of La Presse that Jesse Ylonen has been loaned to Pelicans Lahti of the SM-liiga.

This is a decision that doesn’t come as much surprise considering that the 20-year-old suited up there last season.  His offensive numbers tapered off a little bit from his first year as he had 12 goals and 10 assists in 53 games, down from his line of 13-14-27 in as many games the year before.  However, his 22 points still ranked him fourth in scoring as his team struggled mightily offensively.

Ylonen, the 35th pick in 2018, actually left the team late in the season to come to Laval.  However, he wasn’t 100% healthy at the time and when he was cleared to play, the pandemic had already set in and the AHL campaign was shut down.

Whenever training camps arise, Bergevin indicated that Ylonen would be returning to Montreal, the same as other loanees Lukas Vejdemo, Otto Leskinen, and Hayden Verbeek.  Ylonen will get his opportunity to play with the Rocket at some point but for now, he’ll at least get to keep playing back home.
