Florida is casting a wide net in its search for a new general manager and another Montreal executive has been targeted as Sean Burke has interviewed for the vacancy according to Craig Morgan of AZ Coyotes Insider.

Burke has spent the last four seasons with the Canadiens as a Western scout as well as a goalie consultant while heading up Canada’s entry into the Spengler Cup for each year.  Burke also has been the GM for Canada’s 2018 Olympic and World Championships squads.  He has never been a GM in the NHL but did hold an assistant GM title from 2012-13 through 2015-16 with Arizona before joining the Habs.

Burke joins Montreal assistant GM Scott Mellanby among those that have interviewed for the position that was vacated when the Panthers dismissed Dale Tallon earlier this month following their series loss against the Islanders in the Qualifying Round.
