The Habs continued to surprise as they started 2019 off the way they finished it – with strong play that has them in the mix for a playoff spot, just a year into their retool/rebuild.
Balanced scoring was the order of the month, with the leading scorers, Max Domi and Tomas Tatar, posting just seven points apiece, however, there were nine players that put up at least five points in January. The goaltending was likely the difference, as Antti Niemi was good and Carey Price was excellent, posting a sparkling 0.953 save percentage.
