The Habs weathered the Hurricanes in Carolina tonight, managing a 4-2 win on the road. The game momentum had a pendulum like effect between the two teams, as Montreal got off to a good start with a 2-0 lead in the first period, outshooting the ‘Canes 17-14. Carolina started coming on strong late in the first and tied the score in the 2nd on 21 shots. Montreal regained control of the game with 2 goals in the 3rd period to put it away for a big road victory.

HW 3 Stars of the Night


1st Star: Brandon Prust.
Leading the Habs for Montreal in scoring with a goal and 2 assists and a plus 3. The gritty forward also managed his usual high energy defensive game.


2nd Star: Lars Eller.
The Dane had a great night for the Habs, equalling Prust’s 1 goal and 2 assists. Lars was a plus 2 on the evening and scored the game winning goal.


3rd Star: Carey Price.
Price looked sharp this evening, with a couple of highlight saves earlier in the game. This was a strong rebound game for Carey over his past two starts, as he stopped 42 of the 44 shots against.


Honourable Mention: PK Subban & Josh Gorges.
This award is split between these defencemen tonight. PK tied for the scoring lead among defencemen with a goal and an assist. His slapshots from the point were on target all evening, and his goal was the team’s only power play marker for the night. Gorges equalled Subban’s output, and contributed with a plus 2 in the game with his usual steady defensive contributions.
