Brock Trotter is returning to the Canadiens organization. The Habs have signed the forward to a one-year, two-way deal.

The Brandon, Manitoba native had 135 points in 172 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs between 2007-10 but left last season for Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League. In 49 games with the Latvian squad, he accumulated 9 goals and 17 assists. He also added 9 points in 11 games during their post-season run.

Undrafted, Trotter was signed by Montreal in 2008. Prior to that, he played parts of three seasons with the University of Denver, putting up 76 points in 69 games over his college career. In 2009-10, he made his first big-league appearance, suiting up for two games with the Canadiens but was held pointless on both occasions.
