HabsWorld.net --

After the morning scrimmage, the Habs announced their first training camp
cuts on Monday afternoon.  There weren’t as many cuts as originally
anticipated though, as only 5 of the 58 players were sent home.  Original
reports suggested as many as a dozen players would be sent packing today.

Not surprisingly, those who were cut were all either junior or collegiate
players so they could get back to their respective regular seasons.  Going
home are:

G Nicholas Champion (released from tryout – Lewiston, QMJHL)
D Morgan Ellis (Cape Breton, QMJHL)
RW Brendan Gallagher (Vancouver, WHL)
LW Phillipe Lefebvre (Montreal, QMJHL)
D Joe Stejskal (Dartmouth, NCAA)

Of those players, only Gallagher hit the scoresheet (1 assist) in the intrasquad
contests.  A pair of junior-aged players remain in camp, C Louis Leblanc
and D Jarred Tinordi.  A total of 53 players (5 G, 18 D, and 30 F) remain
in camp, including injured players (Bishop, Hamrlik, Markov, and Masse).
