HabsWorld.net --

The 2010 NHL Entry Draft ended on Saturday,
with the Habs making a total of 4 selections. Montreal lost their 2nd round
selection (57th overall) as a result of trading up with the Coyotes on Friday
night in order to select D Jarred Tinordi with the 22nd overall pick. However,
the Habs picked up a 4th round pick (113th) as well as the rights to select
Tinordi.  Here are today’s selections:

Alberni Valley (BCHL) 59 26 54 80 44

Note: Was
the BCHL Rookie of the Year in 2009-10.

Scouting report: Lots of offensive skill but has difficulty getting into
the scoring lanes due to his small stature.  Is adequate defensively and on
the draw but will need to bulk up to have a shot in the pros.  He is
committed to the University of North Dakota.

Morgan Ellis (117th) – 6’1, 196 lbs

Scouting report: A mobile skater who
uses those abilities to weave out of tough situations.  There are some
concerns about his physical play along the boards but that should improve as he
fills out.

Brendan Gallagher (147th) – 5’9, 163 lbs

PIMS
Vancouver (WHL) 72 41 40 81 111

Note:
Finished 16th in WHL scoring, ahead of 1st rounders Ryan Johansen, Emerson Etem,
and Nino Neiderreiter.

Scouting report: A highly energetic
skater with lots of offensive abilities.  However, given his size, he will
have difficulty at the next level getting to the traffic areas.  In order
for him to counter that, he’ll need to take his skating abilities to the next
level.

John Westin (207th) – 6’0, 183 lbs

Modo Jr (SWE Jr.) 31 16 10 26 18

Scouting report: A hard forechecker who
plays a high energy game.  Skill wise, he’s not the most refined but he
finds ways to contribute in all facets of the game.
