HabsWorld.net --

The team announced that they have traded controversial forward Sergei Kostitsyn along with future considerations to Nashville for forward Dustin Boyd and goaltender Dan Ellis as well as future considerations. All of the players involved are free agents. Kostitsyn is a RFA while Ellis and Boyd, who was not tendered a qualifying offer, are UFAs.

The trade ends the younger Kostitsyn’s difficult tenure in Montréal. The 23-year old Belarusian potted 7 goals and 11 assists in 47 games with the Habs this season. He was suspended by the team in October for failing to report to Hamilton. In addition, during the playoffs, he was asked stay away home prior to Game 4 against the Penguins due to his poor attitude and work ethic. And, a mere few days ago, Sergei made various unflattering comments about the team’s coaching staff and upper management in a Belarussian paper.

The 23 year-old Boyd had 11 goals and 13 assists in 78 games split between Nashville and Calgary. In 210 career games, the 6’0, 200 pound forward has 62 points.

Dan Ellis posted a .909 save percentage and 2.69 goals against average in 31 games last season. In four seasons, the Ontarian netminder has a 50-42-8 record and a .912 save percentage.
