Strengths: Strongest shot on team (and arguably the league), punishes
opponents with big hits. Isn’t afraid to stand up for his teammates.

highly suffers as a result.
Projected Role: 2nd pairing defenceman

Biography

Souray was the key acquisition in the Vladimir Malakhov deal, as he was exactly what the
Canadiens needed, a big, tough defender with a strong shot from the point. However,
several wrist injuries have limited his playing time and ability since then, but despite that, he
had a breakout season in 2003-04, including an appearance in the All-Star game. His play
suffered after that though, as injuries continued to creep up on him, as did fatigue.
