HabsWorld.net --

With the injured slowly returning, the Habs had to send a few players down to respect the 23 man roster limit.

Mike Komisarek, who had yet to dress for a game this season, was one of the not so surprising cuts. The team still had 8 defensemen, and since Francis Bouillon was now healthy so someone had to be sent down. Mike is simply caught in a numbers game, stuck behind 3 veterans on the right side… but he did struggle a little during training camp.

The other is Gordie Dwyer, who simply couldn’t hack it as the team’s enforcer.. in his case the writing was on the wall the second Bob Gainey picked up Steve Begin and Darren Langdon in the waiver draft.

Kudos to Bob Gainey for admitting his mistake, many GMs would have protected someone they had just signed to a 2 year deal this summer… but Gainey recognized Dwyer wasn’t the right man and took action immediately.

That means Chris Higgins remains with the Montreal Canadiens for now, although he likely won’t dress vs. the Penguins tonight… since Steve Bégin should make his Habs debut tonight.
