The Canadiens have sent Tomas Plekanec down to the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Canadiens have to bring their roster down to 23 players by the end of Tuesday.

Chris Higgins survived the cut and remains with the club.

“Tomas certainly had a good training camp, but we already have similar small offensive forwards like Perreault and Ribeiro. That’s why we’ve decided to keep Christopher Higgins, defensively he can help us in different ways,” explained Claude Julien.

Even if he’s staying in Montreal, don’t expect Higgins in the lineup Thursday night in Ottawa since he was not practicing with a regular line today. “I’m trying to take a day it at a time. I have stayed positive and succeeded in impressing management,” concluded Higgins.

The Montreal Canadiens now have 27 players in camp, with 4 injured players: Koivu, Kilger, Langdon and Begin.

P.S. Michael Ryder was practicing on a 4th line with Ward & Dwyer today… giving a possible lineup vs. Ottawa of:

Bulis Perreault Audette
Hossa Ribeiro Zednik
Sundstrom Juneau Dackell
Dwyer Ward Ryder
